Finally, the time has come. Three babies is just too much for our 920sq ft house. We've been living in my little house for the past two years while renting out Kristen's condo. Originally, it was a good plan: live in my little house with maybe one baby and save, save, save until we could pay cash for our next house. Well, then we had triplets. Now, in some ways, space, in terms of square feet, isn't even the issue. It's having only two bedrooms and having the babies sharing a room. Every night Ella goes down first, then the boys. We are so ridiculously careful when putting the boys down- easing into each position as we stand up from the couch with them in our arms and tiptoeing quietly (as quietly as the hardwoods allow) to their bedroom. We've perfected handling techniques for laying them down with the least amount of movement. It's all in vain. Ella will have huge tears coming down her red cheeks as she cries at the top of their lungs. Then Will is up doing the same. Fortunately, Luke is totally out. I end up on the couch with Will (who is currently obsessed with Papaw and me, in that order, and no one else will do), and Kristen's in the bed with El. Everyone told us multiples wouldn't wake each other up. Lies. We have two very, very light sleepers.
As a result of the sleeping insanity, WE'RE MOVING! We are so, so
excited! We wanted a move-in-ready 4-5 bedroom house in our current
neighborhood. Well, that's nearly impossible to find. In fact, I'm certain
we snagged the only home in the neighborhood that would have worked for us- for sale or not. Everything has just been so perfect; we know it that it was meant to be our home. As soon as I looked at the back yard, I was picturing weddings- the weddings of all of our children. Oh, and the sellers! The sellers are amazing ladies who have lots of skills and have taken great pride in their home. The sellers have also been so kind to us. We are so lucky! Alright, here it is. It's a 1900 Queen Anne Victorian with a great yard for the dogs and kids.
In this picture of the back, the left side that runs perpendicular to the front of the house is the garages with an awesome, separate apartment above it (see the 2 dormers). One of our babysitters is going to be living there. That's going to be great! It looks like it's in the country, but it's actually in walking distance from restaurants, a brewery, the library, two coffee shops, and retail. That was a requirement for me- walkability!!
So we move July 14. How the heck do you move with one year old triplets? I don't know, but I can't wait. We need sleep!! Message me for our new address if you need it!
Next step, selling our house on Layman.

It's beautiful! Congratulations! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful house!!! We also moved when ourbtriobwasnjust 11 months... From NC to South GA, we were just going to stay with my parents for 2-3 weeks while we looked for a place but it ended up taking 3 months & we just took an apartment to get out of their place & gain some kind of sanity back. The boys NEVER settled in at my parents, they have been great in the apartment. Funny though, our boys won't sleep apart! We put them all to bed at the same time, they're awake, chat for a few minutes & then silence. We have spent many night in the same predicament as you though, mostly while staying at my parents.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again on your beautiful new home!!!
